They Beheld His Majesty
Matthew 17:1-9
 
1) They beheld the majesty of His person
2) They beheld the majesty of His coming Kingdom

Peter, James and John were blessed to be with Jesus during His transfiguration.
 
2 Peter 1:15-18 they were eyewitnesses
Matthew 16:27- Jesus made two statements- He will come in glory,
                            And reward their good works.
 
Some would not die before the Kingdom of God comes

About 6-8 days after this was spoken, the transfiguration occurred.
They beheld His Majesty.
 
They saw the physical change

God said "Hear Him"- God is going to start speaking through Jesus
Matthew 28:18- Jesus has all authority after ascention.

Matthew 17:9- Tell no one until I have risen.
They witnessed a foretaste of Jesus' rule.
 
Only Jesus was left- Moses and Elijah were gone
A sign that no longer under the law of Moses, or the prophets
Exhaulted over Moses and Elijah by God the Father Himself.
 
What is the significance of the trasfiguration
Matthew 16:28
Ephesians 1:20-23 authority after ressurection authority ceases at
Judgement when God give judgement over all.
 
What does God desire of us today?
Nothing built in the memory of Jesus.
Just hear and obey Him.
Do what He says to do.
 
Disobey Him= Dishonor Him
                        Not giving Him the honor and glory He deserves.
 
One day we will see what Peter, James and John saw.
 
Matthew 28:18-20
I am with you always even unto the end.
 
Give Him honor by giving Him your life.

2) The Making of a disciple
The apostles were told to make disciples
Are you a disciple of Christ?
 
1) A disciple is one who is a learner
    Follows another's teaching
    Others see their teacher within them
 
Luke 6:40- be as his master
                  Strive to be like Him
Romans 8:29- enables us to conform to the image of Jesus
                       People should see Jesus in us.
 
Do we strive to conform to be like Jesus?
· John 8:31- abide by His word
Matthew 7:21-27- do the will of My Father
 
Abide within the words of Jesus
James 1:21-25 - be doers not only hearers
· John 13:34-35 - love one another as I love you.
1 Peter 1:22-23- love with the pure heart of a born again soul.
· John 15:8- bear much fruit 
John 15:5- bring forth much fruit in Me
 
Can't occasionally do good deeds, doing good deeds need to become your lifestyle.
 
Matthew 5:16- Lifestyle that glorifies God.
 
2) To become a disciple one must be baptized

Why be baptized?
Acts 2:38- for the remission of sins
Acts 22:16- to wash away sins
Romans 6:3-4- to be raised in newness of life
 
To reach the likeness of His death, where His blood was shed.
 
Galatians 3:27- put on Christ
Most appropriate starting place of becoming a disciple- being baptized.
 
Acts 2:36-38- Act of submission
                       Acknowledging our sins
                       Repenting of our sins
 
Acts 8:36-37- Ethiopian Eunichs faith
Romans 6:3-4- Burial in water
 
Act of faith on our part
Sins are washed away
 
Titus 3:5-6 renewed, truly a re-birth
 
John 3:5- water and Spirit
 
Teaching and Obedience
 
We are to become learners of the Word.
We are to become doers of the Word.
 
Be baptized
Learn what He teaches
Do what He says
